Historic Environment Record entry

Listed building

This early 19th century, five-bay house retains its historic proportions with good stonework. It contributes to the rural roadside junction. A dwelling is shown on this site on the Richmond Map of 1795.

Some old walling and reused 15th century quoins in the gable end are all that remain from before the rebuilding in the early 19th century. Two-storey house with single storey contemporaneous wing to north with 20th century flat roofed extension to west; 20th century lean-to garage on west gable.

Notes and references

  1. This datestone is not recorded by the Datestone Register, or elsewhere. Its attribution is confirmed by our database marriage records, but we have not been able to place George and Jeanne in any of our family trees. They had a son George in 1812 and a daughter Marie Rachel in 1816
